Favorite Baby Brands

Updated: May 14, 2020

My baby boy wears multiple outfits a day. Around 10% of this is due to an accident or spit-up and the other 90% is just me doing it for fun *sorry Gabe*. The combination of isolation, my habit of "switching it up" and my love of baby clothes has this boy sporting a new get-up every few hours it seems. When this mama has a baby girl - watch out!

As a new mom, it is hard to know what clothing to buy for your babe - there is just so much to choose from! Which will fit best, which is comfiest, which is the best quality. After almost 3 months of "researching" aka buying lots of different things and trying them out, I have compiled a list of our favorites! Each brand offers something unique that sets it apart from the rest.

Old Navy

I fell in love with Old Navy baby clothes right off the bat. Gabriel was just 6 pounds when he was born and 5lbs 8 oz when leaving the hospital. He was swimming in all of his "Newborn" clothing. The only thing that fit him was the Old Navy "Up to 7 pounds" size. Thankfully Gabriel has an awesome GiGi who ran back to Old Navy to stock up on these items! Many stores don't have much "premie" clothing in stock, but Old Navy had many outfits to choose from in this size. He spent a good three weeks in pretty much only Old Navy "Up to 7" clothing and loved each outfit. From neutrals to camo, they have lots of trendy styles to choose from. Of course it didn't hurt that they were so adorably tiny! They almost always have sales going on as well! A few of our favorite Old Navy get-ups are shown below. If you have a teeny baby or if you want soft, quality outfits for your newborn that are extremely affordable, hit this place up first!

Here are a couple of the "Up to 7"s.

These are a few of my favorite outfits from O.N. That matching jumpsuit though! And look at those camo shoes!

Target's Cloud Island and Cat & Jack

No surprises here that Target is high up on the list of favorites. I used Target for my baby shower registry and love every outfit, toy, and baby essential from there! Target is good at pretty much everything, but there are certain things I love about their baby clothes' brands. Cloud Island has some of the comfiest jammies you can find! They come in sweet patterns and colors and are perfect for bedtime or for those first few weeks when you aren't worrying about two-piece outfits quite yet. Another great feature about many of the jammies from Target is the top zipper. Lots of the one-piece outfits come with a zipper that starts at the neck and ends at the foot. This way, you do not have to unzip the whole outfit for diaper changes. That quickly became my favorite feature. Cloud Island also makes the baby hats that Gabe has worn since day one. They are neutral and soft and they come with a top-knot so that it can grow with your babe. We got a three-pack and those are pretty much what he wears every day.

Cat & Jack has some of the cutest outfits for special occasions! We got Gabriel's Easter outfit there and it was honestly hard to choose just one! Cat & Jack has baby through children sizes; I know that he will be in this brand for years to come.

Carter's "Just One You" also has great jammies and neutral onesies. This is not technically a Target brand but can be found there. Many of their one-pieces have a top zipper as well.

Here are some of our favorite and most-used items from Target.

Gerber

There is just something about the Gerber products that set them apart. Gerbers onesies are by far the softest and the best quality. They come in any color you can think of. I am a big fan of the neutral-colored ones. These are great staple pieces that be mixed and matched with any pair of pants or any sweatshirts. We have some cute neutral ones with a pocket on the front and I also love the thermals with the three buttons in the front! Obviously the white onesies are a necessity, in both long and short sleeve. Gerber is definitely a must-have brand for your little one!

Baby Gap

This brand has some of the best quality outfits I have found. Their outfits are some of my favorites because they are usually neutral in color and have held up wonderfully after multiple washes. They are one of the only brands of baby clothes that I've found to still use buttons as fasteners. While this might not be the most convenient, it really sets their clothing apart as nicer and of a quality above the rest. And who can resist that cute little brown bear, am I right? They almost always have an amazing sale going on. I purchased 10 items this week and saved just as much as I spent! The other great thing about buying things online from Gap is that if you purchase anything from Old Navy as well, it all goes into one cart. They typically share discounts as well. This is a major hack - buy this stuff together to save on shipping! You might also reach the amount for free shipping this way as well. See some of my favorite Baby Gap outfits below.

Can you tell I have a thing for blue?

H&M

I do not have many items from H&M, mainly because they are on the pricier side of baby clothes. The items I do have are trendy and good quality. I particularly like their pants. The style is unlike anything else we have in that the waistband is wide and super comfortable on the belly. Some baby pants seem to fit great except for they're too snug on the belly. H&M's bands stretch from mid-diaper to above the diaper and are made from fabric, not elastic. Some examples are below.

Amazon

You can find just about anything on Amazon and baby clothes are no exception. I have recently been loving their one-piece rompers and jumpers that are neutral in color and light-weight for summer. They also have all the baby accessories you can think of, including baby sunglasses and baby carhartt hats! Here are a few of our favorites below.

LouLou & Company

The very best newborn bundle out there! Everything is so very soft and well-made. The newborn bundle comes with a large swaddle blanket, button gown, mittens, and hat/headband. I put my little guy in this for his first outfit and it was just perfect. I used the mittens for a good month too and will definitely be stocking up on them for the next one. They were the only mittens to stay on, tight around the wrist but loose around the fingers. Worth every penny!

Where to Shop Small (from home):

Little One Shop

I am obsessed with this little boutique and their cute onesies and two-piece set. My favorite item they sell is their Varsity Set (seen in middle picture below). All of the colors are muted and many are gender-neutral. Use code "BabyGabe" to save 20% on your purchase!

Arrows and Lace Boutique

This is another adorable shop that has great staple pieces. Their girl clothing is to die for! The cutest little tank rompers and frilly little shorts. For boys, my favorites are their two-toned onesies and their button-up rompers. You can use the code "BabyGabe" to save 20% on your purchase from this shop as well!

Where to Shop "Mommy & Me":

Aspen and Company

I have been eyeing up the "Mama" and "Babe" pieces from this boutique for a while now! I just got our first Mommy&Me set for Mother's Day and I'm obsessed. They also have sweatshirts for mama and babe. They offer a discount after the first item is purchased; you better believe I will be taking them up on the offer!

^ Shop Our Style

Ford and Wyatt

I have been dying to purchase their "Mama is My Girl" tee for Gabriel, but they are currently sold out. I am getting email notifications for when they come back in stock. I did purchase the "Mama" bodysuit and am so excited about it. It's black, short-sleeve, with a thong back - everything a good bodysuit should be. The tricky part will be nursing while wearing this. I'll make it work!

Happy shopping! Let me know if I missed any of your current baby faves. xoxo
