A one-year-old's Easter Basket

Gabriel is 13 months. Last Easter, he got a cute bunny outfit to celebrate the holiday, but I didn't find it necessary to make a basket. (boooo)
This year, I tried to put together a basket of things he would actually be interested in. Although he would have been all about chocolate bunnies and Reese's eggs, I avoided sugary treats and replaced them with fun new items and activities that I think he will really enjoy. (Probably not more than chocolate, but I tried.)
Gabe almost didn't get a basket this year. Here's the story: I ordered this super cute personalized basket from Pottery Barn. It was supposed to arrive the beginning of March and unfortunately I didn't get it until the end of the month. I was a bit surprised to see that it was ONLY A BASKET LINER, and did not come with a basket. This probably doesn't seem like a big deal, but what you don't know is that I spent $47 on THIS LINER!! It's tricky because there is a picture of the basket with the liner on the purchase page, right. It says it is $19. Such a great deal! It's only when you select size "Large" and "Add customization" that your total starts to rack up. Then add in the shipping, and as soon as I pressed "Place Order", my brand new total of $47 was charged to my card. (I swear it is sneaky on purpose.) And, of course, once you order a customized product, there is no option to cancel or return.
Long story short, I was too eager to get Gabe his first Easter basket and I failed to read the fine print. (Disclaimer: It was not even in small writing, I just misread and missed things- MULTIPLE times.) So, now I have this super cute liner that took waaayyy too long to arrive. I also have the dilemma of finding a gigantic basket to put it in, because of course I ordered the size Large liner. It wouldn't be a problem if I got the liner weeks ago, but as I am trying to track down a basket, they all seem to be sold out! And you better believe I wasn't giving Pottery Barn another $40 + shipping for the basket (which probably wouldn't arrive until after Easter).
I was able to snatch THE LAST large basket at Michael's, which isn't quite large enough for this mammoth liner, but ya know what - it works just fine. It was also around $10, better than $40. So... a measly $57 dollars spent on a basket THAT ISN'T FILLED YET. *cringe* Guys, the liner is adorable and it is a limited-edition Peter Rabbit print, and I can reuse it each year. It's all good.
Here is what I added to the basket. I found most things on Amazon - I could count on their two-day shipping and their competitive prices! The teacher in me had to add a few books in the basket.
God Gave Us Easter is a sweet book about the true celebration of Easter and explains God's love for us and what this holiday is all about, in terms that little ones can easily understand. The First Bible Words book has many Bible words with cute pictures to match. (Gabe LOVES all the First Words books!) And of course, the Baby Shark finger puppet book to add to our collection of these little favorites!
Now to get artsy. Can you tell I am a teacher? I cannot wait (but also really can wait) to let Gabe play with this Bathtub Finger Paint Soap. It is going to be such a mess; I am cringing just thinking about it. But, I know he is going to go crazy for it. *Special occasions only.* I also got him some Baby Shark chalk because summer is coming! Gabe is also showing interest in coloring, so I thought some Animal Crayons would be fun and easy for him to hold and use.
I went a little practical and got him this Whale Bath Rinser and these Baby Shark bandaids. Every kid needs an Etch-a-Sketch too, am I right? This one is mini for his little hands. I also got him this cute Fisher Price tractor with a little farmer - the tractor's front moves side to side as it is pushed!

Last but not least, I got a couple Easter-y things from Michael's to add in. What's Easter without some bunny ears?! And these confetti eggs are going to be so much fun to throw and break open on Easter. Disclaimer: These are for children 4 years and older. I will probably regret getting them. Gabe will probably try to eat the egg shell (they are made from real eggs!). I honestly just wanted to try them myself. Stay tuned to see how they work out...
